Survey and documentation of collapsed bridges in the region’s districts

As part of our ongoing commitment to restoring vital infrastructure in Gedo, the Committee for the Reconstruction of Bridges has successfully conducted a detailed survey and documentation of multiple collapsed bridges in the Baardheere and Buurdhuubo districts.

Led by our Vice Chairman, Mr. Waadi, alongside a team of qualified engineers, the mission involved on-site visits to each affected location. The team meticulously recorded technical findings and documented the extent of the damage. Their assessments are a critical step toward developing accurate reconstruction plans.

In addition to technical evaluations, the team held consultative meetings with local communities and district authorities. These interactions provided deeper insights into the historical background of the bridge failures, their impact on local livelihoods, and the communities’ most urgent needs.

The documented bridges—more than two in total—represent key lifelines for transport, trade, and humanitarian access. Their reconstruction will directly contribute to improving mobility and boosting economic activity in the region.

This milestone marks a strong beginning to our journey of rebuilding. We extend our gratitude to all who supported this mission and reaffirm our dedication to a safer, more connected Gedo.
